After hours

How to book after hours

After hours are considered on weekdays from 5:00pm onwards and all Saturday appointment times.

If you are in need of an after hours appointment time, please contact me at acupuncture@megmead.com.au.

I reserve a limited number of after hours times per week for emergency appointments and initial / follow up clients where needed. So please, don’t hesitate to reach out if you can’t see a booking time that works for you.

After hours incurs a 15% additional fee of your consult cost.

Cancellation policy

In booking an appointment, we are both entering a space of mutual respect for each other’s time.

Rescheduling your appointment

If you are needing to reschedule your appointment, I ask for 48 hours notice.

For Monday appointments, notification by close of business on Friday is required.

This period simply allows me enough time to make sure someone else gets the opportunity to receive the treatment they need.

Notification after this time will incur a fee of 50% the total missed appointment bill.

Please contact me via email to reschedule your appointment— acupuncture@megmead.com.au

Gifting your appointment

If you are unable to attend your appointment, but have a loved one that would like the time, we have the option of gifting your appointment.

Simply, notify me via email & we will transfer your appointment time into their name

Not attending your appointment

Failure to attend an appointment will incur a fee of 100% total missed appointment fee.

This includes same day cancellation.

Where possible, I will always try to fill your appointment time to relieve you of these fees but this is not always possible.

  • Most of my patients come in weekly; however, each treatment plan is different base on the individual & their needs.

We create this treatment plan together after your first visit. The plan may also flex with you & your response. Everyone is different & responds differently.

There are certain conditions that can be addressed in a visit or two; whilst others may require more treatments until your goal is met.

Patients may notice relief from a specific symptom straight away, though often we need more time to work on the underlying root cause. This is known in Chinese Medicine as the root & the branch of a condition.

It is important to me that we treat the root. It is also highly important to me is that you walk out feeling different.

  • Yes! Upon payment of your treatment, you will receive a receipt with all of the details you need to lodge a claim with your private health fund.

This can usually be done via your health fund’s app. You will then receive your rebate.

  • To begin our session, we usually sit and have a chat about what has being going on for you, your body, your mind.

Then you get to take a lie down on the table; I feel your pulse, look at you tongue, ask some more questions, then get to creating your treatment for you by inserting the needles.

I then get to leave you for 20 minutes whilst the needles do the work we are asking of them. We want you to be as relaxed as possible in this part so falling off to sleep is perfectly normal!

It may be appropriate to use other techniques such as moxibustion (heat therapy), guasha or cupping, depending on how these therapies may assist in your treatment. These therapies are all administered with your consent & only to your comfort level.

This may be different to how you have experienced acupuncture previously.

There are many different ways to practice acupuncture, or run your acupuncture clinic; as practitioners, we each have our own tone. I work only one room in this practice and so am available to you for the whole duration of your session.

  • Acupuncture, received from a registered acupuncturist, is very different to needling received from a physiotherapist or massage therapist who may call their needling ‘acupuncture’.

‘Acupuncture’ is not a protected title, and anyone can use this to describe their needling (inc. physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists). This may be an incorrect use of the term and have no association to Traditional Chinese Medicine and the techniques we use.

The title ‘registered acupuncturist’ is protected by the Health Practitioner National Law Act, allowing only practitioners registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) to use this title.

The needling technique we use in Chinese Medicine aims to be as “pain-free” as possible. We seek a response from the body called ‘de-qi’ (from some of the points, not all). This is a dull, achey feeling, or heaviness, or sensation that travels along the channel pathway. These are positive signs that the body is receiving the message we are send. However, again, the primary goal if you to be comfortable, and so we do our best to achieve this.

  • The service involved in your fertility sessions is quite different to that of a lesser priced session such as a musculoskeletal session.

Within the fertility service, I provide a commitment to you:

    • A promise of time in ongoing investigation into your condition, reviewing blood tests, scans & basal body temperature charts.

    • A promise of contact-ability where we can have a dialogue outside of clinic time to ensure you feel held.

    • A promise of partnership in your journey to bringing your baby here with us, a promise of care.

If you are undergoing ART / IVF treatment, I work as a complimentary part of your team. I am passionate about both:

    • Providing this level of care from preconception & throughout TTC.

    • Bringing you to a place of wellbeing that you are excited to pass onto your child.

We have the opportunity to give our children the blueprint for health that can shape their lives, the best gift we can give them. Let us invest in our future generation and the lives of our children.
